It is night, the parents have gone out. A little girl, left alone in the house with her beautiful cat, hears the storm coming. It is still far away, but in the room it is so dark. The cat on the bed, gets close to her, together they listen to the wind and the silence. The little girl talks to him, and by talking to him she gains courage. Then it begins to thunder, the rain beats on the roof, lightning flashes. The little girl expresses her wish to become stronger. And in the shadows, the cat transforms and grows into a magnificent lightning-eating lion.
A tale about children's fear and courage, about the secret affinity that binds them to animals, written by Ingrid Bachér and illustrated by Rotraut Susanne Berner, Hans Christian Andersen Award 2016.
