A family is in the park, a white cat passes between the trees. The black cat has stayed at home and looks out the window. As night falls, we go watching a strange visit: in the warm, intimate light of the living room, the two cats, having assumed the size and clothing of humans, exchange news and drink tea. What does the letter say? What is the white cat thinking, looking out the window?
In this textless book, Junko Nakamura displays all her talent. The images, sometimes close-up, sometimes distant, move from the world of the children to that of the cats, from the inside to the outside of the house, and create a fluid narrative. The light, as intense as it is delicate, takes centre stage and participates in the movement of life unfolding before our eyes. The meeting of the children and the cat makes us witnesses of the return to reality, but also accomplices of the magic that emerges.
